A display of slick waterpolo made up of choral moves and individual finishing enabled Sliema to notch their 8th win of the BOV Summer league and maintain 1st place in the table.

Alex Bianchi was given the task to defend Sliema's goal during the match versus Sirens.

Sliema had a strong start to the game, with the Blues opening a 6-1 lead by the end the first session of the game.  Precise shooting and some really eye catching goals enabled the Blues to take a strong lead early in the game.

The game progressed on the same lines through the second session. In fact, with only half of the second session having elapsed, Sliema were enjoying a healthy 9-1 lead over Sirens.

At this point in the game, the Blues seemed to slightly lower their tempo and administer their advantage. This enabled Sirens to score a number of goals, even if Sliema's advantage was never in doubt.

The third session of the game was won by Sirens 4-3, but the blues still enjoyed a six goal lead at this time of the game.

Sirens made a bold effort midway during the 4thsession to close the gap. Three goals in succession by Sirens enabled the team from St. Paul's bay to cut Sliema's lead to four goals. A late surge by the blues with three goals by Kunac, Meli and Debono re-established Sliema's superiority during the game with the Blues closing the game on the 18-11 score-line.

John Soler was Sliema's top scorer during the game with six goals, closely followed by Mark Meli who scored five goals.

The Blues' next game will be against Neptunes on Saturday 7th August @ 18:15hrs. All Sliema fans are urged to attend and support our boys during the game.
