In their second match of the BOV Summer League Preliminary Round, the Blues beat Ta' Xbiex 22-8.
Sliema opened strongly in the first session of the game taking a healthy 7-1 lead by the end of the first quarter. The second session was a close affair which ended 4-3 for the blues.
The boys clearly wrapped-up the match during the third session. At this stage of the game Sliema were leading 18-6.
Sergio Afric rotated the boys during most of the match. Alex Bianchi defended our goalposts for the first three sessions of the game with young David Abela coming in goal for the last session of the game.
The last session of the game ended 4-2 for the blues with most of our players putting their name on the scorers list. Jerome Gabaretta was our team's top scorer during this match with 6 goals, closely followed by John Soler, scorer of 4 goals.
Sliema's next match will be against Exiles on Saturday 26th June @ 18:30.
