A good crowd turned up for what promised to be a tight encounter between the National Champions, Sliema ASC, versus an aspiring San Giljan side. In fact San Giljan had their new two signings, Karl Galea and Edward Aquilina, turning out for them for the first time, as well as their valuable left hander Matthew Zammit, back from overseas.

Sliema are now missing the services of Josie Cachia and Jonathan Valletta, both retired, while Jerome Gabarretta is once again pursuing his studies in the UK. However, the players had only one result in mind. Paul Privitera was making his debut for the Ghar id-Dud side, as was Alex Bianchi in goal. The determined blues took an early 4-0 lead and never looked back. Sliema showed their strength in depth, especially since the team conceded 14 personal fouls.

The maturity of the lads was indeed remarkable. An all round performace. Keep it up lads.
