The 2010 National Championships ended on top note as two national records and three age-groups marks were set on Sunday to make it a total of nine.
The most significant feat was that of Andrea Agius who smashed his previous 200m breast-stroke national limit by a huge 3.76 seconds when clocking 2minutes 28.30 seconds, a time which underlines the tremendous progress this Sliema ASC lad has made in recent years.
Not to be outdone, Neptunes swimmer Andrew Chetcuti burst on the scene with an excellent 53.06 seconds in the 100m freestyle to better Ryan Gambin's previous limit of 53.79 seconds.
The Neptunes 4x100 metres freestyle relay team of Chetcuti, Mark Sammut, Edward Caruana Dingli and David Zammit covered the 4x100m freestyle relay in 3 minutes 42.22 second to eclipse the previous record by 0.47 seconds.
There were more records by the promising Matthew Zammit in the 50m back ‘C' Age-Group with a time of 30.66, one-hundredth of a second on Mark Sammut's previous best.
Amy Micallef did likewise in the 200 metres breast ‘B' category when she swam the four laps in 3 minutes 02.62 seconds to better her own mark set in March by 4.33 seconds.
Nikki Muscat in Group ‘D' emulated these two young swimmers when she registered 31.94 in the 50 metres back for a new mark in that category, 0.04 seconds faster than her own record set last April.
